Harlan Leslie Ray, age 83, died on March 18, 2025 after succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Denver, CO on October 15, 1941 to Walter and Thelma Ray. Les was a prominent member of the Colorado community predominantly as owner and manager of the Regency hotel for almost 2 decades. Les was an astute businessman, intelligent and well-educated with a law degree, a master’s degree in taxation, and expertise in real estate. More importantly, Les was a kind, good hearted, and generous man. He loved to dance, travel, and enjoyed the great outdoors through playing golf, biking, and hiking. In addition, Les loved food and dining with those he loved. His contributions to the lives of many include the Regency hotel, the Colorado Classic Horse Show, and the MS society.
Les is survived by wife, Barbara Bowen, daughters Amy (Dafin) Trifonov, Brooke (David) Loven, and granddaughter Annika Loven,and sister Phyllis Ray. He is also survived by Barbara’s daughters Kirsten (Chris) Rhodes; Erika (Gregg) Klein, Heidi (Travis) Hohn, and Laura Bowen. Barb’s grandchildren include Lauren and Garrett Klein, Jackson Rhodes, and Charlie Hohn.
Les was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Thelma, and his brother Shelley.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18th 11:00am at Horan & McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd.
